Christmas In A Blue-Collar Town (Joe Normal) Well it’s Christmas… In a blue-collar town We wish you Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town Have a Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town We wish you Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town See all the workers rush to get their pay, And then we’ll still go help Santa to load up his sleigh Because it’s Christmas… In our blue-collar town Helpin’ out this Christmas… In a blue-collar town Gonna strike a deal with the man down the block, And we’re gonna buy the best tree on his whole damn lot, For our Christmas… In a blue-collar town, Gonna get one for our Christmas… In this blue-collar town C’mon! Going down the pub, and we’ll raise a toast, For the ones we lost, and the ones we love most Because it’s Christmas… In this blue-collar town That’s how we do our Christmas… In a blue-collar town When I’m on the rooftop I can look out on our town, And well it don’t seem so bad when I see the snow Covering the ground, Of this blue-collar town. Hey! Christmas… In a blue-collar town We wish you Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town Have a Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town We wish you Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town Hey Santa! Now Listen! Don’t forget the ones who got mouths to feed, and won’t ya Give a little something to the folks in the street, and won’t ya Be a little kinder to the ones in need, and won’t ya Do what ya can, where we couldn’t succeed Because it’s Christmas… In a blue-collar town Because it’s Christmas… In a blue-collar town Workin’ hard this Christmas… In a blue-collar town Workin’ hard this Christmas… In a blue-collar town Hey Santa, I promise to believe in you, If ya fill up my stocking with a full tank of gas, and won’t ya Pay all the bills for the Working Class, Please let my Daddy hit the Lottery, and won’t ya Bring back my brother and my sister to me, and won’t ya Pray for the souls in recovery, And all the children, who have difficulties, and won’t ya Please take care of all the missing ones, and won’t ya Please bring them home where they oughta belong, And don’t ya forget that time when I did something good, well I Could use a favor, if ya think you would, you see I I’ve got this dream I’ve been workin’ on, and… ahh

December 1980 (Joe Normal) Last night Out in the frost I Walked in the moonlight, Under the starlight My brother and I We hurried through the trees Of icicled memories Out in the cold We were so bold, But not quite as old yet, Still searching for ourselves Out in the woods of New Jersey Snow glistening under our feet, So far from our home and the streets We ran away! Forever and a day, At least in our own way We’d never go back But now looking back, I was so naïve On that lost Christmas Eve To think I could relieve The whole world of the pain of That sad December, And the news of John Lennon’s murder By drinking away The feelings of loss and The grief and the longing That never would leave And still I believe it’s all just a bad dream I believe it’s all just a bad dream I believe it’s all just a bad dream Still believe it’s all just a bad dream.

about

Here's a trio of Joe Normal original Christmas songs to keep you humming along and reflecting as you celebrate the Season!

The Phil Spector inspired #GaragePop of "Christmas In A Blue-Collar Town," is a Holiday anthem for the hard workin' folks doing their best at Christmastime.

My ancestral Celtic roots surface on "Christmas, Christmas, Come And Save Us," a melancholic plea for the Spirit of Christmas to intercede on the behalf of the good people of Humanity. Come save us from the calamity of the world, and from whatever ails ya.

"December 1980" is a piano driven journey through the snowy woods of New Jersey at the time of John Lennon's death for two brothers coming of age amidst the disbelief and sadness... feelings which still visit every Beatles fan each December.

LYRICS:

CHRISTMAS IN A BLUE-COLLAR TOWN (Joe Normal)

Well it’s Christmas… In a blue-collar town
We wish you Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town
Have a Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town
We wish you Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town

See all the workers rush to get their pay,
And then we’ll still go help Santa to load up his sleigh

Because it’s Christmas… In our blue-collar town
Helpin’ out this Christmas… In a blue-collar town

Gonna strike a deal with the man down the block,
And we’re gonna buy the best tree on his whole damn lot,

For our Christmas… In a blue-collar town,
Gonna get one for our Christmas… In this blue-collar town

C’mon! Going down the pub, and we’ll raise a toast,
For the ones we lost, and the ones we love most

Because it’s Christmas… In this blue-collar town
That’s how we do our Christmas… In a blue-collar town

When I’m on the rooftop I can look out on our town,
And well it don’t seem so bad when I see the snow
Covering the ground,
Of this blue-collar town.
Hey!

Christmas… In a blue-collar town
We wish you Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town
Have a Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town
We wish you Merry Christmas… In a blue-collar town

Hey Santa! Now Listen!
Don’t forget the ones who got mouths to feed, and won’t ya
Give a little something to the folks in the street, and won’t ya
Be a little kinder to the ones in need, and won’t ya
Do what ya can, where we couldn’t succeed

Because it’s Christmas… In a blue-collar town
Because it’s Christmas… In a blue-collar town
Workin’ hard this Christmas… In a blue-collar town
Workin’ hard this Christmas… In a blue-collar town

Hey Santa,
I promise to believe in you,
If ya fill up my stocking with a full tank of gas, and won’t ya
Pay all the bills for the Working Class,
Please let my Daddy hit the Lottery, and won’t ya
Bring back my brother and my sister to me, and won’t ya
Pray for the souls in recovery,
And all the children, who have difficulties, and won’t ya
Please take care of all the missing ones, and won’t ya
Please bring them home where they oughta belong,
And don’t ya forget that time when I did something good, well I
Could use a favor, if ya think you would, you see I
I’ve got this dream I’ve been workin’ on, and… ahh
