Recently a featured artist and winner on Southern California’s legendary KLOS 95.5 FM “Stay Or Go” show, JOE NORMAL follows up his moment in the mainstream spotlight with a new indie single that brings together his usual Working Class Singer-Songwriter Rock style with touches of 70’s Glam Rock and Psychedelia.
“‘Ya Gotta Open Your Heart' is kind of a Modern Glitter Rock anthem that takes a look at heartbreak, but offers some encouragement to get back up and try again. Now more than ever we need to rebuild hope and restore our faith in each other.” - Joe Normal
A timely message as many cope with the lingering effects of loss in a post-pandemic reality of strained relationships and stifled dreams.
Known for recording with punk icon Stiv Bators & Lords of The New Church (Soundtrack to Michael Nesmith’s cult classic “Tapeheads”) and co-writing Sammy Hagar’s “Not 4 Sale” album title track, Joe leans into his 70’s Glam Rock roots with a single that highlights some Mick Ronson “Moonage Daydream” inspired guitar soloing with T. Rex era acoustic guitars, interlaid with a modern psychedelic synthesizer over a timeless, universal theme of Love - Loss - Love Again.
Not unlike his contemporaries and fellow indie artists Aaron Lee Tasjan (Semiprecious Weapons), Jesse Malin (D-Generation), and Ginger Wildheart (The Wildhearts), JOE NORMAL, a founding member of 90’s Sunset Strip glam/pop legends The Zeros, is quickly emerging as an equally respectable Rock Singer-Songwriter with a Storyteller heart and a Glam Rock past.
