about

This collection of stories and scenes draws its inspiration from working class life in the North East.

Joe Normal pays homage to his hometown Elizabeth, New Jersey, a place known both for its importance in Revolutionary American history and industry, and for its notorious struggles with environmental issues and crime.

With songs like "Warinanco Pond," "Small Town Factory," "Living In The Borough" and "Bayway Refinery," Joe simultaneously glorifies the beauty and nostalgia of his Elizabethtown and condemns its harsh unpleasantness and reputation.

Just as his area of The Garden State is known for its diverse blend of cultures, people, and influences, a hodgepodge of Americana, Glam and Folk Rock musical flavors blend quite satisfyingly to define Joe Normal's sound while revealing an artist in full embrace of his own story and creative path. This is Glamericana.

Written, performed, and produced entirely himself, Public Works highlights a lyricist and musical artist with a singular vision, the type of sole expression and DIY ethic you'd expect from a potter or painter conjuring tangible works by their own hand.

Joe's subtle brand of social commentary weaves its way into the mix as well. Topics such as Workers Rights, Criminalization of the Homeless Community, and Suicide Prevention are broached, while he offers listeners a delightfully humorous uplift on “Setbacks” and “Summer Jobs,” two relatable tales of working people’s misery.

With a self-professed empathy and love for yer’ regular everyday Jane and Joe, Mr. Normal aims to be an up-lifter and voice for the underserved, for the underdog, the public citizenry who crave authentic rock ‘n roll, relevant stories, and a melody that might carry you through another day as you strive to reach your dreams.
