There’s a hopeful line in “Just A Normal Day In Normaltown,” that the downtrodden will somehow triumph, that despite one’s troubles there is still “some good news up ahead.”
With songs that often root for the underdog, international press is calling JOE NORMAL "a working class hero" and “an American Ray Davies” with regular comparisons to Paul Westerberg, Bruce Springsteen, and John Mellencamp. Not a bad bunch of average Joe’s!
Have a Normal day.
lyrics
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown
(It’s just a normal day in Normaltown)
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown
I couldn’t sleep, I got too much fear on my mind
Can’t turn it off, there’s a storm out there and inside me
There’s no one home, so I check my phone
And I make my way downstairs
There’s more bad news and I can’t shake these blues,
Is there any hope out there?
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown
Walk into town and I’m feeling so uninspired,
Thinking about someone I once loved and admired
But now she’s gone, and I’m so alone
And I don’t think I could bear
To view this life through these lonely eyes,
Tell me, why is love so unfair?
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown, yeah
(radio announcer):
“There’s a big rig blocking the center lane
And it’s a slow go as you make your way
Through downtown near the convention center…
Look out for construction near the homeless shelter
Along Main Street directly across from the county fire station…
And thank you folks for making us a part of your day.
THERE’S SOME GOOD NEWS UP AHEAD!”
It’s raining now and I’m coming down
Couldn’t face myself out there,
There’s too much pain when you’re the one to blame
For the hurt you’ve caused out there.
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown
It’s just a normal day in Normaltown, yeah
THERE’S SOME GOOD NEWS UP AHEAD, SO KEEP IT RIGHT HERE!”

I saw Alvvays open for CourtneyBarnett 2016 'n checked out this album that week on Spotify, made me a fan for life. They make brilliant records if you ask me. Great vocals, songs, guitar parts. Joe Normal
The original release without the last two tracks. Sloan is hecka-talented, I'd say he's the next Paul McCartney. I'm grateful to find a young artist/producer so inspiring, good natured, and melodic. Joe Normal
If Dayglow's the youthful side of my inspiration, Martin Newell's the older hero that pushes me on, to stay prolific 'n that 'every dog has his day.' I wish him good health, abundance, and much love. Joe Normal
