My sister Rita was a victim of domestic violence.
It's not an easy conversation to have, but Domestic Abuse affects the whole family. Everybody loses.
You probably know someone right now who is suffering in silence and shame.
Rita is the reason I am a rocker. She brought home T-Rex, The Beatles, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie. She was a free spirit and went by the nickname Sunshine. My sister loved to laugh and smile and she knew how to dress cool. She was the first teen in our neighborhood in 1975 to dye her hair and wear platforms. A true glitter star.
Near the end of her life she told me how much she loved Ozzy and Springsteen. I took her picture with Ozzy's star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, which was the last day we spent together with all the kids and siblings. I still have the pic, but I don't have her. Miss you sis.
